I created this story book to illustrate the Dewey Decimal System to first grade library students.
I created this LibGuide during a practicum as a guide to resources available through the district for Special Education students, parents, and faculty.
This was the first project completed on the LibGuides platform at the school. LibGuides allows staff to create discrete modules which can be reused across multiple guides. For example, a box that includes links to various organization tools and resources can be placed on the Special Education Guide, and reused in a guide to Web 2.0 tools. I decided to break the Special Education Resources into multiple boxes, so that they could be easily reused and rearranged by the staff. This also allows the staff to easily update and redesign the page based on the current needs and demands of the school system.
I created this Pathfinder to assist students working on a history assignment about the Transatlantic Slave Trade. In creating the resource, I decided it was important to find multiple online resources that could be accessed by students directly from the Pathfinder itself. This project is aimed at ninth-grade students, who are just beginning to understand the research process. Making the links as easy as possible allows them to focus on learning the material, and not get overwhelmed by the research process.
This SlideRocket presentation was also used to demonstrate the technology to students. I created this during my practicum and used it in several classes.
I created this Prezi as a demo to use when teaching the technology. I have used it in several classes during my practicum to give students a brief overview of some of the features, and to show how much you can do with Prezi.
This wiki was created to demonstrate how a school could use technology to spice up a One Book, One School program. The program uses Twitter, Google Docs, screencasts and videos to show off the program and encourage students to participate. The wiki can also be used by teachers to collaborate on lesson plans and program activities.
This video encourages students to check out the local library when school is out of session. It was created using Animoto.
This podcast discusses how high school teachers and librarians might use “Flatland” by Edwin Abbott for a book talk. The podcast gives background about the book and its author, and covers possible topics for discussion with high school students.
